The LORD thy God bringeth
thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths
that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and
vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not
lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills
thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt
bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. |
A Prayer for Our CountryAlmighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Amen. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Amen. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Amen, Amen, Amen. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Amen. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. Amen. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail. Amen. Give us grace to encourage one another. Amen All which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |
