Saint Cecilia,
pray for us, for all who built this great engine, for all who offer it,
and for all who rightfully cause it to speak.
FROM "ODE
TO SAINT CECILIA"
Orpheus could lead the savage race, / And trees uprooted left
their place / Sequacious of the lyre: / But bright
Cecilia raised the wonder higher: / When to her Organ vocal
breath was given / An Angel heard, and straight appeared / Mistaking
Earth for Heaven.
John
Dryden
FROM "ANTHEM ON SAINT
CECILIA'S DAY
And by ocean's margin this innocent virgin / Constructed an
organ to enlarge her prayer. / And notes tremendous from her
great engine / Thundered out on the Roman air.
. . .
At sounds so entrancing the angels dancing / Came out of their
trance into time again, / And around the wicked in Hell's abysses / The
huge flame flickered and eased their pain.
Blessed Cecilia appear in visions / To all musicians, appear
and inspire: /
Translated daughter, come down and startle / Composing mortals
with immortal fire.

Parish Pipe Organ
Dedication
ORGUES
LÉTOURNEAU OPUS 68
was blessed by the Right Reverend
James Winchester Montgomery and first sounded on Christmas Eve 2000.
Thanksgiving
and honor and glory be unto Thee, Almighty God, that from ancient times
Thou hast put it into the hearts of men to make offerings for Thy service,
and hast been pleased at all times to receive them at their hands. Mercifully
accept this organ which we devoutly offer and set apart to Thy glory;
and grant that this gift may be found worthy through Thy
blessing to magnify Thy Name, to benefit Thy Church, and to minister grace
and joy to those who rightfully use it. Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Spirit, be all praise and dominion for
ever and ever. Amen
O PRAISE
GOD IN HIS SANCTUARY:
Praise Him in the firmament of His power.
Praise Him in His noble acts:
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
Praise Him in the sound of the trumpet:
Praise Him upon the lute and harp.
Praise Him in the timbrels and dances:
Praise Him upon the strings and pipe.
Let everything
that hath breath praise the Lord.
