Last Supper - Chartres stained glass

I am the food of the full-grown;
grow, and thou shalt feed on Me.

Cibus sum grandium; cresce, et manducabis Me.

Nor shalt thou change Me into thy substance as thou changest the food to thy flesh, but thou shalt be changed into Mine.

Nec tu me in te mutabis sicut cibum carnis tuae, sed tu mutaberis in me.

— In St. Augustine, Confessions, Book VII, Chapter 10

The Mass

The holy sacrifice of the Mass is the central act of corporate worship in Ascension and Saint Agnes parish. We hope you will join us at Sunday, daily, and special services. All are welcome.

High Mass is celebrated on Sundays and other holy days with three sacred ministers, incense, and a full complement of servers, cantor, and choir. The choir offers Mass settings from the rich canon of western liturgical music, from plainchant through Palestrina, Byrd, and Victoria to modern composers.

Low Masses are celebrated seven days a week.

Ascension and St. Agnes, which is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion and the Washington Diocese of the Episcopal Church, has become nationally known for the beauty of its music and liturgy and for its sound Gospel preaching. It serves as a home-away-from-home for many traditional Anglicans in the Episcopal Church of the USA, and as a link in the chain of parishes that adhere to traditional Anglo-Catholic practice.

Canon of the mass

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Hebrews 12.28
